Alabama Cardiovascular Group Data Breach Class Action

Alabama Cardiovascular Group Data Breach Class Action

Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C., a Birmingham, Alabama-based law firm experienced in data breach, privacy, and consumer class action cases, is investigating claims on behalf of victims of a data breach involving Alabama Cardiovascular Group (“ACG”).

On July 2, 2024, ACG discovered a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal information within its systems. The investigation revealed that unauthorized parties potentially accessed this sensitive data between June 6, 2024, and July 2, 2024. Around August 2, 2024, ACG began notifying individuals whose private information might have been compromised.

Alabama Cardiovascular Group, a Birmingham-based cardiology provider affiliated with Grandview Medical Center, announced that it experienced a significant security breach in July. The personal information of all current and former patients—in addition to all guarantors, physicians, and staff—which total 280,534 individuals may have been affected.

How Can I Tell If My Data Was Stolen?

There are several steps you can take to check if your private data was affected:

  • Be on the lookout for updates: Watch your mail or email for any notifications from ACG regarding this data breach.
  • Watch out for phishing attempts: Be cautious of emails or messages claiming to be from ACG asking for additional personal information. When in doubt, contact ACG directly or consult with a lawyer.
  • Monitor your financial account activity: Regularly check your financial statements for any unauthorized transactions. Scammers often test small charges before attempting larger fraud.
  • Monitor your credit reports: Regularly monitor your credit reports for unauthorized credit pulls, unauthorized accounts, or inaccurate information.
  • Place a credit freeze: If you see or suspect unauthorized activity on your credit reports or any financial accounts, you should place a freeze on your credit directly with the credit reporting agencies.
