AOD Federal Credit Union Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Personal and Financial Information

AOD Federal Credit Union (AODFCU) has disclosed a significant data breach that may have compromised the sensitive personal and financial information of customers across several states. If you’ve received a data breach notification from AODFCU, it’s important to understand your rights and take immediate steps to protect your information.

What Happened?

On or around August 9, 2024, AODFCU discovered that an unauthorized individual had accessed its internal network. The breach was promptly contained, and the credit union launched an investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts. On March 4, 2025, the investigation confirmed that a malicious actor had gained access to and may have acquired confidential customer files during the period of August 8–9, 2024.

What Information Was Exposed?

The breach involved highly sensitive personally identifiable information (PII), including:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Financial account details
  • Credit and debit card numbers

While AODFCU has stated that there is no current evidence of misuse, this type of information is often targeted by cybercriminals for identity theft, fraudulent financial activity, and unauthorized account access.

Who Was Affected?

The breach impacted customers across multiple states, including:

  • 400 individuals in Texas
  • 42 individuals in Massachusetts
  • 16 individuals in New Hampshire

Notifications were made to the appropriate state authorities, including attorney general offices in Massachusetts, Texas, Vermont, and New Hampshire between March 27–31, 2025.

AODFCU’s Response and Support

In response to the breach, AODFCU is offering complimentary access to Experian IdentityWorks Credit 3B—an identity theft protection service designed to help detect and respond to fraudulent use of personal information. Instructions for enrolling are included in notification letters mailed to affected individuals.

The credit union is also advising all impacted customers to:

  • Place fraud alerts and security freezes on their credit files
  • Request and monitor free annual credit reports
  • Carefully review bank and credit card statements for suspicious activity

AODFCU has set up a toll-free support line to answer questions about the breach and assist customers with identity protection. This hotline is available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern, excluding major U.S. holidays.
